Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy Team is an integral and vital part of our school: they engage our community in activities to enhance our understanding of God and deepen our faith.

At the end of Year 5, children are invited to apply to join the team, and successful applicants are appointed to the role of Pupil Chaplain. In July, the current and new Chaplains meet to share their experiences and expectations. The Chaplaincy Team are blessed during Our Welcome Mass in September.

In their role, the chaplains aim to promote the Catholic Ethos of our school in a variety of ways, including:

  • Living out our school mission statement and acting as a role model
  • Planning and leading acts of worship, liturgy and reflection
  • Assisting in assemblies
  • Supporting others with their planning of the Celebration of the Word for their classes
  • Writing prayers to encourage and aid their relationship with God
  • Leading the Rosary sessions for the school in May and October
  • Initiating and organising fund raising events and actions to support our Catholic Social Teaching
  • Running a lunchtime Prayer/Art club
  • Conducting tours of our school for prospective parents and children
  • Keeping a record of how we celebrate The Word within our school
  • Developing and strengthening links with our parish and the wider community

2026-2027 Chaplaincy Team

Rosanna, Olivia, Rocco, Eva, Matthew, Hollie and Joshua

are very excited to have been chosen as the new Chaplaincy team for the year ahead.

We wanted to share with you selected quotes from their applicant letters.

  •  I want to help the school grow closer to God and learn more about Jesus…… I want to have more love for Jesus and God.

  •  I will try to encourage others to be faithful and listen to their questions and try to answer them…this position will help me grow in faith. I would like to be a role model to other students and inspire others…

  • I want to help the school be a community of faith by encouraging children… I want us to fulfil our Mission Statement by teaching others the words and living it out.

  •  I have always wanted to be a part of a community within the school…I am a kind, caring and helpful person…I enjoy helping others…I want to always include everyone …I’m responsible and can be trusted to represent the Catholic values of our school… I would like to make Jesus stand out more in our everyday lives.

  •  It would be a privilege to help the school become a stronger community of faith by using my learning and role as an altar server for my parish… so we can feel closer to God and our Catholic teaching…. When I help it makes me feel joyous …. I enjoy Religious Education lessons as it feels like when I read our Mission Statement, it is telling me we are all growing and we all make mistakes, but Jesus and God still love us and won’t turn us away from their everlasting love. Our faith always brings us back to God…I would love to be a part of the team and share ideas to help our school...

  •  I think I will be good for this role because since Year 3 I’ve dreamed of being part of the Chaplaincy Team and this opportunity gives me a chance to inspire others and to innovate my ideas so that we can spread kindness to others who need it….I will try my hardest to exceed expectations and further our reach to spread the Good News ……this would cause us to have a stronger connection with God and to walk in His light.

  •  I am always responsible about my actions and I am very careful. I listen to others and respect them. I comfort and support people who need aid. I will always be there if you need my help…I can help make the school better.

  •  I want to be part of the Chaplaincy team as I want to push myself further …I also think I have the experience because I was part of the School Council. I want to help the school be a community of faith and encourage everyone to love out their faith in their daily lives.

We look forward to working with them this year and building on the foundations of the previous Chaplains.

Chaplaincy Team Reflection

The Chaplaincy Team of 2025 -2026 has thoroughly enjoyed their time serving the school community and wishes the next group every success in their roles. Some of their favourite experiences included trips to Westminster Cathedral in London for the Nativity celebration and having the opportunity to attend mass as part of the Relics Tour, which were both memorable and inspiring opportunities to grow in faith.

Throughout their time on the team, members enjoyed leading prayers, running the Rosary Club and supporting assemblies. They feel they have made a valuable contribution to the Catholic life of the school by introducing daily prayers, leading a drama group, and acting as positive and supportive role models for younger pupils. We thank them and wish them all the best in the future.

Chaplaincy Team 2025-26

We welcome Roseann, Leyna, Olive, Evelyn, Estelle, Jack, Zofia and Luna to the Chaplaincy Team.

We were impressed with their application letters and wanted to share with you some of their aspirations for the year ahead:

“I can support the school in being a community of faith.”

“I will support the school in its mission statement by being friendly and kind to others so we can grow together in love.”

“I would like to push myself to be more involved in school life by helping during the liturgy and assembly time. I think this will help my confidence develop.”

“Whenever you need someone, just come to me.”

“I have been very impressed by the work that the chaplains did (2024-2025), and I feel that I have a lot to contribute.”

“I am keen to learn more about how I can support the spiritual life of our school community and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.”

“I will demonstrate empathy, active listening, good communication skills and commitment, providing spiritual support to the school and our community.”

“I am confident, kind and respectful of other people.”

“I would also like to promote Bible stories by putting them in the reading corner for everyone to read in their own time. The stories will encourage us to live in faith by the example of Christ.”

We are excited to work with the new Chaplaincy team as together we build upon the spirit and positivity generated by the previous group of chaplains.
